Newsletter - March 2025

Dear Families,

March has been full of wonder, creativity, and celebration at L’école! Here’s a look at some of the highlights:

Lunar Eclipse Fun in Pre-K

Our Pre-K students explored the magic of lunar eclipses this month! 🌕🌑🌍 To help them understand how this amazing phenomenon works, they created hands-on art projects showing the alignment of the sun, Earth, and moon.

It was a fun and colorful way to bring science to life and a perfect example of how curiosity and creativity go hand in hand in our classrooms!

🌙 Ramadan in Kindergarten

A big thank you to the wonderful parents who visited our Kindergarten classes to introduce students to the traditions and values of Ramadan! ✨

The children learned that Ramadan follows the lunar calendar, beginning each year with the sighting of the new moon. They discovered it was a time to purify the body and mind, practice kindness, and give to others.

They also enjoyed making colorful lanterns, writing Ramadan in Arabic, and tasting delicious traditional sweets, which were a beautiful celebration of culture and community.

Thank you again to our amazing parents for sharing this special moment with us!

Congratulations to Our Chess Champions

We are proud to share that four of our students have been named North Carolina Girls U300 Top Team Chess Champions.

These remarkable young learners began their journey in our school's Chess Club, where they developed their skills, strategic thinking, and love for the game. Their achievement shows how much effort, determination, and dedication they have put into learning and growing as players.

A Visit from NC Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green

We had the immense honor of welcoming Jaki Shelton Green, North Carolina’s Poet Laureate, for a special two-day residency with our 1st to 3rd-grade students.

During her time at L’école, Jaki led inspiring workshops inviting students to tap into their inner storytellers. Through poetry, reflection, and playful language exercises, she encouraged them to explore their emotions, senses, and surroundings in new and expressive ways.

Students created original poems, played with rhythm and rhyme, and learned how writing can be both a creative outlet and a powerful tool for connection. Jaki’s warmth, energy, and passion for words left a lasting impression on students and teachers alike.

We are deeply grateful for this enriching experience, which helped our young learners grow as writers, thinkers, and dreamers.

Thank you for being part of our vibrant school community. We’re proud of our student's accomplishments and look forward to more exciting moments in the months ahead.
